"Mon
Truc en Plumes" (which roughly translates
from French to English as “my thing with
feathers”) was the signature song of
dancer and music hall legend Zizi
Jeanmaire.
She was more than a legend. Calling
her a National Treasure of France would
not be overstating her place in French pop
cultural history.
She started out as a prima ballerina and,
under the guidance of her choreographer
husband, Roland Petit, she evolved into a
brilliant music hall performer.
"Mon Truc en Plumes" was devised by Petit,
and Zizi performed it to international
acclaim for close to 50 years:
To
reinforce this image of Zizi as a French
National Treasure, "Mon Truc en Plumes"
was performed by Lady Gaga during the
opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer
Olympic games.
Please keep in mind that Gaga and her
dancers were doing this number live ...
outdoors ... on stairs ... in the rain!
And we feel compelled to add that whether
this number is done by Zizi or Gaga, it is
one of the gayest things we’ve ever seen.
And here are some of the treasures we’re
featuring from our website today:
